Dr Chidi Nweneka is a Paediatrician, Epidemiologist, Clinical Scientist, Advocacy Expert, and Strategist with research interests in antimicrobial resistance, HIV, reproductive health and malaria. He also has a PhD degree in Child Health and Human Nutrition from the University of Glasgow, UK. Chidi is currently the Deputy Director, Policy and Strategy Department, and head of the Strategy and Planning Division of the National Agency for The Control of AIDS, Nigeria. Prior to this, he was the Deputy Director Public Health Programs and Policy (and the PEPFAR Lead) for the US Department of Defense Walter Reed Program, Nigeria. He was also the Executive Director of the African AIDS Vaccine Partnership (AAVP). He served as a member of the Civil Society Working Group for the Microbicide Development Strategy (2006 -2007). Dr Nweneka has been involved in National and International vaginal microbicides advocacy since 2001 and served as a member of the Scientific Review Committee – HIV Microbcides for the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP).
